RWC Partners is to launch a Ucits version of its emerging market equity strategy in November.
The long-only fund - RWC Global Emerging Markets Equity - will be a sub-fund of a RWC Ucits range which already accounts for $5.4bn (£3.5bn) of the company’s total $11.4bn of assets under management.
The fund is based on an existing strategy run by RWC’s 15-person EM team, headed by John Malloy and James Johnstone. The team previously worked for hedge fund Everest Capital before joining the boutique earlier this year and already manages over $1.3bn in EM, frontier and Asian strategies.
The strategy will invest across both emerging and frontier markets, with a focus on opportunities that are “not yet broadly followed” in both large and small markets.
Mr Malloy said his experience will enable the team to work through the fact that emerging market stocks remain thoroughly out of favour among investors.
“I’ve been investing in GEM for over 20 years and over that time you learn that these things happen, but the key is to focus on the opportunity rather than the noise,” he said.
