The Intermediary Mortgage Lenders Association has elected its largest committee yet, with Coventry Building Society’s mortgage distribution director, Kevin Purvey, set to join in 2022.
Appointed as vice-chairman Purvey joins Accord Mortgages’ managing director Jeremy Duncombe, who was appointed as interim chairman back in March and who will now continue as permanent committee chairman.
The other three IMLA directors starting next year include HSBC’s Richard Beardshaw, Hampshire Trust Bank’s Louisa Sedgwick - who Duncombe took over from - and Cambridge Building Society’s Tracy Simpson.
Beardshaw previously served as a co-opted director between 2019 and 2021. Now, four new co-opted directors have been appointed, taking the committee to a total of nine members.
These include Nationwide’s Andy Dean, Kensington Mortgages’ Craig McKinlay, One Savings Bank’s Adrian Moloney and Bluestone Mortgages’ Steve Seal.
McKinlay and Seal will be joining the management committee for the first time.
“This is IMLA’s largest management committee to date and I would like to congratulate all those who have been elected, especially Jeremy, who has done a great job as chair after stepping in on an interim basis in March 2021,” said Kate Davies, IMLA’s executive director.
“It’s good to see a more diverse committee for 2022, with Louisa and Tracy on board, and the mix of new and experienced members should give us an excellent base on which to build in the coming year.”
The IMLA is now home to 46 ‘full’ members - which include banks, building societies and specialist lenders - as well as 13 ‘associate’ members.
Some 17 of the 20 largest UK mortgage lenders - measured by gross lending - are members, making up around 90 per cent of the country’s gross mortgage lending market.
