"However, as an annually renewable contract, private medical insurance isn’t exempt and, along with medical inflation, IPT has been one of the major driving factors behind rising premiums in recent years.
"Given those with private medical insurance reduce pressure on an overstretched health service, this seems fairly shortsighted," he said.
