Mazars’ Andy Springford has scooped the 2017 Money Management financial planner of the year award.
To be eligible for the overall award, entrants had to submit solutions to at least three case studies.
The overall award goes to the candidate who, in the opinion of the judges, presented the best three case studies of all the entrants.
At a glittering awards ceremony last night (19 October) at Avenue Restaurant in London, Mr Springford picked up a cheque for £5,000, plus an engraved crystal trophy.
At the presentation of the 22nd Money Management financial planner of the year awards each category winner received a cheque for £500 and a certificate, and each runner-up received a cheque for £200 plus a certificate.
This year the Investment planner of the year award, sponsored by the Association of Investment Companies, was scooped by Nicola Meadows, from Hargreaves Lansdown Advisory Services, with Francis Klonowski, from Klonowski & Co, named runner-up.
Sebastian Hurst from Plutus Wealth Management was named Philanthropy planner of the year. Runner-up in the category, sponsored by Charities Aid Foundation, was Ed Fairey from Fairey Associates.
Chris Wordsworth from Hargreaves Lansdown Advisory Services was named Alternative Assets planner of the year. Runner-up in the category, sponsored by Vin-X, was Daniel Elkington from Chattertons.
Winner of the Multi-Asset planner of the year award, sponsored by Schroders, was Sarah Harragan from Grangewood Financial Management with Paul Gibson from Granite Financial Planning in second place.
Scooping the title Inheritance tax planner of the year was Chris Bowmer from Fortitude Financial Planning. Runner-up in the category, sponsored by Octopus Investments, was Phil Rose from Group IFA.
Toby Owen-Browne from Finura Partners was named Tax-Efficient investing planner of the year, while Anthony Villis from First Wealth was runner-up in a category that was sponsored by Scottish Widows.
Peter Savage from Fairstone Group won the At-Retirement planner of the year award, which was sponsored by FTAdviser Advantage and BlackRock, with Michael Lapham from Mercer & Hole in second place.
The Protection planner of the year award, sponsored by Cascaid, went to Fraser Glass from William Glass & Co, with Nicola Meadows from Hargreaves Lansdown in second place.
The Sipps planner of the year award went to John Reid from AisaProfessional and Katie White from Hargreaves Lansdown Advisory Services was named as the runner-up.
The Rising Star award, sponsored by NS&I, also went to Sebastian Hurst from Plutus Wealth.
